Philips Slimstyle LED bulb

Philips (NYSE: PHG) announced on Monday that its new design of LED lightbulbs known as SlimStyle are available for purchase at Home Depot stores across the US. The new 60-watt replacement bulbs utilize Luxeon LEDs and consume 10.5 watts of power while emitting 800 Lumens.
The new design differs from previous LED bulbs because it lacks the bulky aluminum heat sink most of them utilize, making it both lighter and flatter.

This design was first revealed at the end of 2013 and will hit general retail availability later this week. Each bulb costs $9.97 and promises a 25,000 lifespan with an approximated $135 in electrical savings versus a traditional 60-watt incandescent bulb.
